My baby boy is now a "big boy" (that is what he calls himself). He turned 2 last Saturday and there is no stopping him now. Everyday is a fun day with fun new phrases. Today he told us "I'm okay" after he tripped in the garage. Sam and Tae playing in the tunnel today!

Seriously, I can't believe it's been 4 months since my last post.
Tae had his 18 month check up.
He is 32 inches. (47%^ for you mothers out there)
He is 22.5 ppunds (8%)
And his head is average (45%)
He is a little stinker now. Smart, verbal, head strong..... and funny.
I just love everything about him. Even when he makes me crazy. :)

It is amazing how much a little ba humbug like myself can really enjoy the the pre-Christmas chaos. I believe that is because of mommy-hood. XMAS x Baby = -BH

We have a 9 ft tree... the first tree we have had since we've been married.
Baby Tae is super good with the tree.... the ornaments are beyond his reach.
The kitties have found a new napping place... the stand cover is nice and velvety.

Tae is 14 months old today and it seems like yesterday I was sleep deprived and barely hanging on to sanity. NOW he goes to bed at 7 and wakes up at 6. Banker keeps rhetorically asking: Can you believe our son is sleeping through the night! In return I say: Do you think it is just a phase?

All I know is: he stopped taking the bottle a month ago. No silicone nipple, no Next Step formula, no nothing that reminds him of the baby he used to be at 13 months. Pooo hooo and YAY!

Eye Surgery

Can't believe it is already October. On the first, Tae had his eye surgery. It went well. The doctor said the his tear ducts were really tight and it required some extra time to insert the tubes. :( We are just glad he is okay! He was such a trooper, no food for 10 hours... didn't really bother him as much as we suspected. The really horrible part was the recovery. To hear your little baby screaming in the recovery room with tubes, wires, and a bloody nose sucks. The doctor and the nurse had to sedate him twice after the surgery because he was so upset. All in all, he is fine now, ready to eat and play! Kids are amazingly resilient. I don't have any pictures of it and I am sure no one minds.

Instead I have some pictures from the park to show off. Tae is no longer a baby but a toddler now. I can't believe he will be one in 8 days! Yay!

GOSH, I can't believe September is already over. I 've been busy with school, Tae, visits....
Early this month, Aunt Yeon and Paul came to visit Tae from LA. It was fun seeing Yeon Hee with Tae. She is a great emo and guardian! We also met Paul for the first time. We really liked him!
Then my grandma came to visit for a whole week!!! Banker's traveled a lot during September so it was really great to have my mother here to help out and visit. Tae really enjoyed it. While she was here, he learned so much. Most important new skill: walking. YUP our little man is walking now!

Tae has a new friend. His name is Sam and he is celebrating his first birthday tomorrow. So far, they have played music together, visited the Children's museum twice, went for a few walks by the creek, and visited Lyon's Park.

While Sam enjoyed the feeling of sand between his toes and fingers, Tae had to watch from his stroller. I still can't stomach the idea of Tae eating sand, having bugs crawl all over him, yucky yucky... etc., etc.

BUT he did swing for the first time. I don't know why I waited so long. HE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. Teeth and dimples all over the place.

August has been a great month so far. It started off with Harmony's 3 day visit. It was fun seeing Tae get excited about being with Grandma. Yesterday, Tae went to the Children's Museum with his friend Sam. It was really great seeing him really enjoy all the activities. Sam had a great time too! Ohh, we also had a fire in the neighboring hill the other day. It has been soooo dry in Colorado this summer that I am surprised we haven't had more. Let's hope for some rain!

We went to Wisconsin last weekend. We have calculated that Tae has flown around 10,000 miles already. He used to be a terrific flyer.... but now that he is very mobile, he is very frustrated on the plane. It also didn't help that he came back with the croup. Thanks to a sick relative that came over to visit and didn't warn us. IT SUCKS because Tae is really miserable right now. Other than that, the trip was nice.

Saturday we had a nice little birthday party for the banker. It ended up being around 90 degrees with some nice breeze. The babysitter that was supposed to take care of Tae flaked out on us... actually she just bailed out early. So it was a little challenging to get ready with Baby Tae wanting constant attention. He is teething, has an ear infection, has goopy eyes, and wants to walk. I was just sooooo busy that I forgot to take pictures. For that I am regretful.

Sunday was Banker's first Da Da Day. Banker and Tae participated in the Stadium Stampede at the Mile High Stadium. It was their first race together. It was a gorgeous day and once again, Tae beat daddy by a second or two.

Children's Museum of Denver

Today we went to the Children's Museum. Baby Tae seemed really happy to just sit, watch, and observe. He is a little too young for the really good stuff but it didn't stop us from having some fun! We love new experiences and being out of the house! Enjoying another gorgeous day in Colorado.

First time in the Mountains

This is Ella. Tae met her at the restaurant we ate at in Georgetown. She kept wanting to give Tae hugs. Baby Tae says: Another day, another friend!

Yesterday we took Baby Tae to the farmers market in Golden and had an ok time. It was less produce and more hippy crap. Anyway, we decided to go for a little drive up to the mountains. Technically, we are the foothills at 6000ft so we do not live in the MOUNTAINS. Since Tae has never been to higher elevation, we went up to Georgetown (at 8500ft downtown ) and had lunch and went on Tae's first museum tour at the HOTEL de PARIS. If that wasn't enough for a young one, we decided to go over the "Pass" at 1113ft and go shopping at Silverthorne (at 8751ft). The interesting thing about Colorado is that the City Sign never give the population information, just the elevation. It is probably a wise economic thing to do.

As for Baby Tae, he is teething right now and had sort of a runny eye and nose day yesterday. I imagine his sinus didn't feel so great with the elevation, the wind, and his parents constantly wiping at his face.

First week at new school

I saw the most beautiful young buck today when I went to go pick-up Tae from school. He was small, still had velvety nubs for antlers, and was happily eating someone's rose bush. It felt really good to know that Tae would some day experience this living in Golden. We'll pass on the mountain lions, foxes, skunks, rattle snakes... but will welcome elks, moose, deer, eagles, and bunnies! Back to the subject of school.

Okay... I know it isn't technically school but I prefer to refer to day care as school. I drop Baby Tae off at a designated place of care and learning where he interacts with an instructor/caregiver and other kids. Pretty much what my college students experience. :)

Tae is doing awesome at school. He already has the two sweetest little friends. Big Boy Neil and Big Girl Rachel take very good care of Tae. They love to say Baby Tae and bring him books and toys. Big Boy is turning 2 this month and Big Girl shares the same birthday as Tae but a year sooner.

Baby Tae is already smitten with Ms L and her daughter Brook who is 4. I feel great about the move, especially since Tae is now napping 3 to 4 hours a day. He used to only nap an hour or two at the other school. A well rested kid is a beautiful thing....the more they are rested during the day, the better they sleep at night. Thank goodness!

This is Baby Tae's new high chair in California!

Since October, Baby Tae has flown 10 legs and has been superb. He was much easier when he was a newborn but even as a wiggly pre-toddler he's pretty good. Actually he is excellent and a big FLIRT. GOSH, at the airport, on the plane, at restaurants, at stores, at the Chinese herbalist's office... you name it, he has a big smile and "uppie" arms ready for almost everyone. This makes the parental units very proud.

Anyway, we went to California to visit the grandparents. Tae had a great time. Mommy had a great time. Banker had business in the city so we tagged along and stayed with my folks. I ate a lot, had my mom watch Tae, took a few naps, got a massage... the trip was too short. It is odd how I am still feeling so tired! It makes me sad that Tae is far from his grandparents (OK, me also). When we do see each other, Tae has a great time, I have a great time, and the grandparents have a great time. It is a win-win situation.

I guess you don't really appreciate your parents until you see them as grandparents! It was really a fun few days for all!

POO HOO, we are now back and I will be starting summer quarter tomorrow. Wish me luck... I just got the syllabus ready. Wish Baby Tae luck... he will start his new day care tomorrow.

Day Care Dilemma

Next Tuesday was be Baby Tae's last day at KC daycare. KC is a gigantic corporation that takes care of babies as young as a few weeks to 5 years of age. KC promises a safe place where babies learn and stay active. It is pretty pricey but it is .5 miles from our house, my friends who send their kids there, and Baby Tae loves his Ms K and Ms M. I felt good about Tae being there because they have over 35 years of experience, but more importantly, the babies truly enjoy their company and they truly love the babies that stay in their care.

Baby Tae has been going to the local KC since the third week of January (he was 13 weeks old). It was supposed to be temporary until an opening at a private home daycare opened up. We got the noticed in March that BT could start the first week of June at "AP2G." At first we weren't sure what to do. We didn't want Baby Tae to be disrupted or stressed out because of this change. We were seriously considering having Tae stay at KC even though it would cost of 3x as much for 1/3 less time. And then something very strange happened. Ms K (morning teacher) hurt her ankle badly trying to avoid tripping over another kid in class. I thought nothing of it and assumed she twisted it, since he continued to work that day. The following day she found out it was broken and she may need surgery. This meant she was no longer the primary caregiver for Tae's class. I'm not stressing it. A week later, I noticed the assistants (barely 21) starting taking over Tae's class. Then the class started growing. Usually there are about 5 babies in Tae's class. Now I start noticing there were 9, 10 little babies crawling, sitting, crying, snotting everywhere. Now they have 2 assistants in class (young capable ladies) taking care of the babies. I want Ms K to be taking care of Tae! She was the reason Tae was still there.

The babies did not like this change... Ms K is gone, there are more babies, new caregivers. They were upset for weeks about this change. I started become pretty irate too. Especially since I found Baby Tae stuck under the partition one afternoon. I don't know if he was in that position for 3 seconds or 3 minutes. I came home and told Banker, "THAT'S IT! I don't pay KC $80 a day so my child can be neglected and not taken care of by a seasoned care giver. Blah blab bhaa" I might have overreacted a bit. Needless to day, I have been very very disappoint with KC the past month and I can't wait to have Baby Tae start at the other place.

I know some of you are reading this and saying, "SO, if you hate it so much, take him out of day care." Well.. I wish I could. I wish you the best of luck in the future. For other who will need day care, research and get on the waiting list before the baby comes! Who knew I would have to wait 6 months.

Golden Monday

We went for a very nice walk today. By the time we started our walk at 10, it was already 75 degrees. I was hoping to get a picture of Baby Tae with the kayakers but we were a little early. Clear Creek seems to be a nice little place for many great and not so great kayakers. Yesterday I saw one man flip over and have a very hard time flipping back around. It made me nervous. Later one I saw him as asked if the water was cold, he said it was super cold and he had one really bad "brain freeze." I bet it didn't help that he was stuck under water for 1 minute or so. The water stays pretty cold all year round... it's pretty much melting snow from the Rockies.

"Why do I look so chubby mummy? Why do you keep trying to cover my legs with a blanket? Don't you know I'll just kick it off? Did Adolf Coors really use this water to make beer? Yuck?"

Today I wanted to take some pictures of Baby Tae having lunch with his future friend "Sticky." Sticky is 10 weeks old and still in his mommy's tummy. Sticky is probably about 1" long, and weights onces. Sticky is already adored, pampered, and his arrival in December is greatly anticipated. Unfortunately, Baby Tae did not take any pictures with Sticky because we were too busy walking him around. He missed his morning nap and was a little tired and restless. We managed to have a nice lunch at the Golden Hotel. The day was glorious and windy. We might have also had lunch sitting next to an ultra-marathoner- (damnit Banker won't tell me his name because he is embarrassed of his crush).

Baby Tae has simi blocked tear ducts. This means he tears easily and it does not drain properly. So he constantly has eye boogies. On a windy day, it is extra boogielicious. The pediatrician says this is quite normal but if the tear ducts don't open by 1, we will have to think about surgery. Yeah, lets just poke my little Baby's eyes so his tears can drain properly. I think I can wait a little longer before I decide on such a procedure. But on days where his poor little eyes are boogered shut, I do feel quite badly for him.

Going back to my Sticky and Baby Tae story. Sticky's parents are awesome. They have been fun friends in Colorado. Sticky's daddy is a pilot and is gone 4 days at a time. Sticky's mom is ready for the challenge of being a single mom for a few days a week. But she shouldn't worry about that now. She just wants Sticky to get big and fat in her belly. Well not too big and fat since her "crazy" doctor told her to only gain 25 pounds. HAH! I told her I only know 1 woman who gained 25 pounds and she was already 25 pounds over weight! I know more women who gained 70 pounds than I do 25. She should be happy and not worry about such a crazy figure. I told her I proudly gained 38 pounds and loved every swollen pound. Notice how I did not round that number up to 40. Hmmmhmmm...

The banker's been out of town since Monday. Overall Baby Tae has been a good little baby for me. Sleeping well, eating well, doing everything well..... the first two days. Yesterday, I noticed something a little peculiar. When I disappear from his sight, he cries. He'll play in his gym, roll around on the floor, chew on a toy like a baby BUT the minute I leave of the room or disappear from his sight, he cries. Wails. Screams. I tested this new social change a few times and YUP he's definitely in his co-dependent stage. Does it with dad too.

So I read up on this new baby stage. Turns out it's normal and we can expect it to stop around 15 months. OK. So for almost another year, we can just expect Baby Tae to behave this way. Yea, I don't think so. Also looked up coping or curing this new social behavior. I need to reassure him that it's ok when I leave his sight. I'll have to work on "reassuring" him, starting asap. I need to go to the bathroom and stuff and I don't want him me in the commode with me.

Fish or teething baby?

The baby was never in any danger!

For my first Mother's Day ever, the family went to a nice Sunday Brunch at a local hotel. We managed to get up, get dressed, and arrive at the restaurant on time.

One of my pet peeves is people who are alway late and use their kids as the excuse. "YAH, I remember you before kids and you were perpetually late!" Ok, I must admit, I occasionally run late but I am trying hard not to become "that person."

Going back to my Mother's Day recap. At brunch, Baby Tae was very entertained and sweet for about 45 minutes. This is impressive.... always try to find restaurants with lots of ceiling fans and lights! Afterwards, we went for a nice walk downtown and by the creek. Baby Tae was fascinated by the water, the trees, the ground, the sky... everything but daddy who was trying to get his attention behind the camera.

The perfect day ended with a glorious nap for baby and mommy! Almost forgot to mention, my son slept for 9 hours straight that night... that may be the greatest gift of all. Too bad, daddy kept me up because he was nervous about Baby Tae sleeping so long! :)

One month old
I've been thinking about creating a blog since my first ultrasound. Nine months later, plus 7 months and 3 days, I finally have the energy and brain capacity to start one. This blog is mainly to post the millions of pictures of Baby Tae. I realize how much work it takes to email everyone I know how cute and fast Baby Tae is growing. It has also dawned on me that some people are probably too polite to tell me to stop inundating their mail boxes with ever precious and not so precious moments. So here we are.... Baby Tae is now 7 months 3 days old.
